plasma tv placement

The standard arrangement of the theater is, of course, a screen at one end of the quarter, with a central column, a column for each side of the screen, two surround speakers providing left and right, and sometimes providing a speaker surround back. If you have your room arranged this way, the chances are good that you call it of your home theater, and placement of the speaker is quite simple for you. The ideal placement has the front speakers the same height from the ground, generally or slightly above or slightly below the display and speakers, at least 60 inches above the heads of the spectators.

The front center speaker should ideally be in same position on the screen, the front left and right should be placed about 25 degrees to the left and right of the direction of the face of spectators, and about the same distance from the viewers, the surround left and surround right should be 90 degrees to the left and right direction, and again on the same distance from spectators, and surround back, as its name suggests, should be directly behind the viewers. A subwoofer can theoretically be used placed anywhere in the room.

For many people, and I include myself in this, the design of your home is such that it allows a comfortable living room setting this way. After all, unless you luck, chances are that the room that contains your home theater doubles as his office, and you do not want it is dominated by a screen. You may not want to call it your home theater as such. To resolve this problem, you need to draw a scale diagram of your room. Add your placement screen is intended to prepare, together with the seating arrangements (your sofas and chairs) and identify where people go be sitting when they watch movies, and the direction in which they will be looking at.

The next thing you need to do is draw a line at a spectator directly to the screen that shows the direction in which each viewer faces. Next, draw a line at an angle of 25 degrees to the left of the line you just draw the viewer for each viewer, until it meets the wall. If the speaker is placed anywhere along that line, then it is at the correct angle to the viewer appropriate. You need to identify a point along the wall fairly close to the position in which these lines reach the wall. This will usually be somewhere near through the collection lines. You then have identified the ideal home theater placement for the front left speaker.

You now need to do the same thing, but the lines angle of 25 degrees to the right of the direction in which the viewers face. With these lines you can identify the optimal placement for home theater column front right.

Repeat for lines angled 90 degrees to the left, 90 degrees to the right and 180 degrees (a continuation of the line of the viewer to the screen, but in reverse). With these lines, you can identify the optimal placement home theater surround left for the speaker, the surround and surround right column back.

Ideally, the front left and right should be placed equidistant from each viewer, as if the surround left and right. This usually not be achieved, so it must be approximated. Far more important are the angles of speaker placement for each viewer, which should ideally be more than about 15 degrees off the ideal position. Optimum home theater speaker placement depends on minimizing the error of the angle of the viewer.

Your subwoofer could theoretically be placed anywhere in the room, because the ear can not determine the direction of low frequency sounds. However you may find that positioning the subwoofer in different parts of the room change the sounds and the subwoofer's frequency can be amplified, while others may be reduced especially if the subwoofer is placed near a wall or a corner. It is suggested that you try the placement of your subwoofer to find a position that you like.

Some other considerations can affect the position where you place the speakers. You do not want your speakers on a position where they obstruct a path that is regularly crossed, for example, near a door. Also, if you are not magnetically shielded front speakers, they should not be placed too close to a CRT (old style) TV, it will cause the purity of the color of the monitor to be affected. This does not apply to LCD or plasma. Using this approach, you may be able to put the speakers in a way you can be proud of your home theater and his room at the same time!

Always remember that the idea behind the home theater is to set your system so you can enjoy movies to the fullest. Some people lose sight of that goal. Whatever you do with your home theater project, do not fall into the trap of over-analyzing their results. Start enjoying the movies!
