A dehumidifier is a very important equipment for homeowners with a damp basement. Moisture can lead to mold, mildew, and increased incidence of allergies.
Unfortunately, a dehumidifier can be a real pain, because you have to keep emptying the bucket of water storage. Just put it inside and out of the machine can be difficult. Getting the bucket to the sink without spilling its contents can sometimes require the ability to balance a juggler.
The best method is to add a drain hose to the dryer so that water drains by itself. This eliminates the dreaded journey to dispose of the water.
Drain Connection ———-
First, make sure the dryer has a connection leak thread. This is a threaded nipple at the back of the machine which flows into the bucket of water.
Remove the bucket of water storage. You should see a connection with the nozzle cap. Some models have a connection on the bucket of water itself. Or to a drain hose (or a piece of a garden hose) to be attached to the rear of the machine.
Since the hose is attached to water flows into the hose. The hose can be directed away from the dehumidifier in a floor drain.
Above the sink method ———-
Not every house has a floor drain. Therefore, some consumers install the dryer above a sink for easy disposal. This requires the installation a wall bracket or shelf above the sink. The water produced by the dehumidifier is then simply allowed to drain directly into the sink or vertical laundry.
The method above the sink works, but limits its use to an area. Also regular maintenance such as cleaning the filter, it becomes difficult. Just leave the dehumidifier on the floor is more convenient. Furthermore it allows you to quickly move it to another room if necessary.
Method drain hose ———-
A better method is to take advantage of the threaded drain connection on the back of your dehumidifier. With a hose to drain the Lawn added, the distance between dehumidifier and drain becomes virtually unlimited.
Always remember the flow of water down. Therefore, if the vanishing point is smaller than the drain connection in the dehumidifier, the water will run down the hose.
Throughout this article, the term Â'floor drain 'is used. If you have no floor drain, then an alternative can be used. Consider a thin shower stall, a toilet, a sink, a hole of deposit, or a tube of a washing machine. Although the floor drain is easier, any of the other drains work equally well. The fact that they are higher above the the ground simply means the end of the dehumidifier drain hose must be raised higher to compensate.
Sounds simple enough, but the dehumidifier can be a part of the basement floor drain and the other with 50 meters of garden hose between them. Finding the correct height for each end is the whole trick. Therefore, you have to determine its height in relation to another. This, in turn, will be the key to eliminating the need to empty the machine.
The simplest way to do everything this and make his escape dehumidifier is automatically the following:
1. Place a drain (lawn hose) along the ground, between a floor drain and dehumidifier. At the end of the floor drain hose to insert a few inches down the drain. At the end dehumidifier locate the hose near where the dehumidifier is operating.
2. Lift the edge of dryer hose to the level itÂ's about with the top of the bucket of water storage.
3. Pour the water in the drain hose and have someone advise you to empty the water to drain into the ground. If Â'yes 'go to step number 7.
4. If the water back out of the hose, no flow to the floor drain hose is not yet high enough. Lift the hose a few inches and repeat the process. Continue to repeat until the water flows out to the floor drain hose. When notes so far above the ground you had to raise the hose. This height is important.
5. To further refine the appropriate time to add more water to the end of the hose to alternately raise and lower hose. Height the mayor is slightly above the point where the water back out of the hose.
6. Raise your dehumidifier to drain connection screw is above height determined in step number 4. If this requires that the dehumidifier be high off the ground do it temporarily, using blocks or brackets under the machine. A more permanent can be built later.
7. Reconnect the drain hose for connecting thread of the drain hose in the back of the dehumidifier.
8. To test, pour water into the trough drain pan at the back of the machine. In most dryers this is a plastic trough or pan just above where the flow is now connected. If your machine has a back cover to remove it to gain access to the gutter drain.
Pour the water into the gutter drain. It should be the end of the floor drain hose freely. If the overflow gutter go back and start again at step number 3.
9. Reconnect the dehumidifier electricity. Allow it to work for 24 hours with the drain (lawn hose) connected. If he seems to be working correctly, go to the final step.
10. Build a permanent position to hold dehumidifier. Run the drain hose along baseboards and secure. End of Secure drain hose on the run.
Your dehumidifier drain is now fully automatic. Each time the cycle dehumidifier moisture accumulated in the pipeline will run from draining, down the drain hose through the drain floor, and down the drain. No more having to empty buckets of storage of heavy water.
Finally, you should take note on a timetable for cleaning or replace the filter dryer each month. This, along with some occasional maintenance, will keep your dryer working very efficiently in the future.
