This is how I build a wall of plasma or LCD on a wall of plaster.
First fit the TV stand to the TV, ignore the part of assembly the wall at that stage. Follow the instructions on the support of manufacturers of screws to use and use the washers supplied. Make sure the screws are tight, but not tighter. The brackets I use are of the long trail that will most likely span two beams in a plaster wall stud.
Then decide where on the wall plaster you want to mount the TV. Mark the center position in the plaster wall and a line where you want the background plasma to be. I use a spirit level to do this. If you are mounting it on a brand fireplace in the middle of the fireplace and use the spirit level to make the vertical line as far as the center of the wall will support. To get the height of the wall, measured from the bottom of the plasma screen to the top of the "hook" part of the TV stand. Now that the transfer measurement for wall. Measure from the line where you want the bottom of the screen to go the distance measured. This will ensure you get the plasma TV at the time that wanted it to be.
Now offering the support wall to the center line and the line of measurement for the height. Using your spirit level to ensure the support wall is straight. Mark the holes in the wall.
There are two types of wall plaster. One is "dot and dab" where the plaster is attached to Blockwork using an adhesive. The other is a stud wall. You can tell if you have the point playing on DAB and wall plaster. If the solid wall of sound in the distance of about 600 mm, then it is point and DAB. This is the preferred place to drill the holes. The reason for this is that when you tighten the screws do not pull the plaster and crack. Typically is supported by a pair of solid copper these bits, then you will be OK. Be sure to secure the support of TV here. If the TV does not support span two solid Dabs, then maybe you need a professional!
If the plaster wall is a wall stud, when you mark the holes on tv hope you will find at least one nail for correction and therefore have the weight of plasma or LCD. One is usually enough to take the weight seeing as flat screen TV, most are so light those days. Put an extra pair of mounts in any way to stop the support of slipping out of level. I normally use the fixings for this butterfly. Make sure you have at least one of a pair of fastening in wood, but if the wall was wet from a flood or exhaust pipe and you have fixing wood plasma or LCD that hit the deck!
When you are sure to have good fixings and wall mount is the level that you can hang your TV up.
