The life of a plasma TV, contrary to rumor, is great. Moreover, the technology is ever advancing to produce better televisions that will last even longer. Most manufacturers provide a lifetime of approximately 60,000 hours for their plasma televisions. That's 20 to 25 years before normal view the screen begins to noticeably dim. This is a new number that reflects the improvements in technology in recent years. In the infancy of the plasma TV, time was only 30,000 to 40,000 hours, a substantial improvement. After the television begins to dim, many models offer the option of replacing light source, which renews the life of the unit.
There are several new technologies that have helped increase the lifespan of plasma televisions. First we have orbits pixel. The orbiter quickly change the color of adjacent pixels when a static image is displayed. This creates a sense of change of image to the television itself, but practically impossible for the viewer to see. This almost single-handedly eliminates the risk of burn-in. Another software component of an "Anti-Burna" Research technology outside pixels that were long and off for a short period of time allowing them to rest. These advantages prevent burn-in and, given the pixel health, extend the time for TV plasma.
A good tip for users of plasma television is to watch as many shows as possible in widescreen format. This helps prevent a difference quality in developing countries between the pixels internal and external, that would be overlooked when sidebars appear. Also, keep brightness levels more low as possible. If you have your TV in a lighted room, you do not need to keep the brightness at 100%. Reducing this takes some of the tension out of the pixels and matches and helps prolong life. One last tip to increase the life of your plasma TV is to keep it in a cool, well ventilated place. Atmosphere cool reduces the amount of work done by internal components of refrigeration and helps work more matches.
Plasma televisions provide a big screen (42 inches and up) for considerably less than a comparable LCD. Knowing this, we see that even though the television manufacturers are exaggerating the average of life of their plasma models, these units are still a better value than a LCD. Obviously, a plasma television presents concerns first generation owners. They should more actively monitor the health of their screens. However, looking at the newest model of plasma and the future of technology, we must recognize life a plasma television is long enough for any User medium.
