6ohm load 2ohm or 4ohm subwoofer?
I'm building a TV stand for the new 42 "Plasma I'm getting more and I'm building a TV / Bandpass Box with a 15 "subwoofer in the center of it for the home theater system I am getting really, but still I can use a subwoofer 2ohm or 4ohm, without moving the appliance or to sub up or I need to wire 6ohms if Thiers even a way to wire it to 6ohms the receiver is putting out its 200 watts RMS for the sub which is why I will use a 4ohm or 2ohm sub is because I plan on having plexi in front of the sub, and I want a sub that looks nice and cheaper than home speakers and speakers it look kind of house boring thing I was buying a 15 "MTX Thunder Round look very beautiful and different from most of its with black dust cover and say MTX Audio them, so any response or suggested it would be great I'm willing to spend more than $ 175.00 for the sub shipping.thanks including the subwoofer rms is 150-300 if that helps any.
Using nothing less than the amplifier is rated for, sooner or later damage the amplifier. Home systems are not as forgiving as the system drive to the impedance the speaker should never be less than the amplifier is rated. You may be able to get with the use of a sub 4 ohms, but it would be risky and pushing their luck. If you insist on using a single sub car then start with a dual 4 ohm coils of wire and voice coils in series so that you will have an 8 ohm load. Most impedance will not damage the amplifier, although you will not have the total power measured out of the amp. The only way to get the full rated output of 200 watts RMS out of the amp is to use what is called for, 6 ohms.
