Both LCDs and plasmas have a life so meaningful, or would be a good choice. Plasmas do better in dark rooms and LCDs do better in high light. Concern about the break applies to the monitor (not necessarily associated with the electronics). This is the case for both LCD and Plasma. The screen is the most expensive assembly.
