It is true that plasma TVs are less reliable than LCDs?
Due to the fact that (so I heard) Plasma TVs work with some kind of gas that provides the image on the screen. After about five years, Plasma TVs break, crashes, and can not be repaired. Is this true? Is it worth buying a plasma TV at all? LCD TVs are actually more reliable?
I work in both LCD and plasma TVs, and as far as reliability goes, both are almost the same. The only thing I saw that may be of some concern is that plasma TVs are much more plaque on them then make televisions. Naturally more cards within a tv, more potential problems that could have, and the more money it could cost to get it repaired. On average, the LCD TV is typically 2 to 3 planes printed circuit behind the back cover. A plasma is between 10 and 11 printed circuit boards, on average, and generates more heat. The charging of gas in a plasma TV, there is no such thing. lcd has rear lights (bulbs), some are replaceable, some are not. If one goes out, the TV world, will generally to protect mode, and in most cases your only option is to replace the screen. I have seen the same number of LCD vs plasma TVs come into our shop with various defects and problems. There are only rhyme or reason other than fail, they just do. Anyways thats my two cents.
