Can not set the correct resolution on my plasma TV using Vista Ultimate and Media Center Edition 2005.?
My goal is use the native resolution of my TV (1366×768 @ 60Hz) under Vista Ultimate or MCE 2005. TV: Panasonic TH-TY 50PH9UK with optional FB8HM HDMI add-in board installed Video Card: NVIDIA FX 5600XT and 6800. Used the latest drivers from NVIDIA's site for MCE and Vista. Connected PC and TV in two ways (not simultaneously): 1. DVI-to-HDMI Converter Plus HDMI PC to TV 2. VGA PC to TV Results: MCE 2005 or Vista using the VGA connection of FX 5600XT, closest game I can use is 1360×768. In this case, I have to use the TV controls to stretch the image to make sure all the pixels of TV being used. Using the DVI-to-HDMI, 1280×720 is the closest match. Frustrating Remarks: In all combinations, I could not set a resolution of 1366×768 @ 60Hz custom. Every time, I received a message error preventing it. The closest (untolerable) option that I could find was 1366×768 Interlaced. I hope someone can help.
I had a similar problem with a DVI to HDMI on my Samsung LCD. I just used a DVI – VGA connection instead worked well. Will be honest with you have no idea why there was a problem maybe HDMI is not just designed for this type of connectivity. Or maybe we're just being both dumb and there is a way. I tried to walk very quiet different video cards etc. I even had my uncle who's an IT engineer come and check it out no joy.
