Help with PC monitor great?
I'm thinking of getting a large LCD for my PC (about 42) and need the help of a specialist. The largest flat screen monitors that I know the market that are made strictly for PC are not larger than 30 "inches, which in reality are only 27 inches. I want a large computer monitor, not an LCD TV or plasma. I have a Sharp Aquos 46 "HDTV which looks splendid in 720p, but 5-7 meters away. I want something I can look real close distance, say 2 meters. There are many LCD's out there, especially from NEC that are ok, but I'm afraid that if I buy one will end up having another tv like mine. An LCD TV display 1920 x 1080 resolution would not serve this purpose, it is a tv …. not made for be viewd closely. They are the NEC LCD computer monitors or I'll have to buy a 30 "monitor like the Samsung sync master or HP 30 ….????
You really want to look at a monitor "3'6 from 2 away? This will be a real problem with the viewing angle. I am not aware of anything out there that will do that. If you want to keep value of 90 dpi – 100, a monitor, but have it on a 42 "screen you would be in about a resolution of 3360 by 2100 (Quad 16 * 10) that will be extremely expensive. On top of that, without video card will be able to drive it. Even Dual Link DVI will cap out at about 2880 to 1800. Link Will display a video option package that would reduce the requirement for effective bandwidth – as long as you are not changing a lot of data on the screen each frame, but not yet out. There is no way that a VGA connector will be any good at 450 rates Mpel. Or put up with the low resolution, or put up with a 'mere' 30 "screen at 2560 by 1600 (100 dpi).
